Por definición inicial, los navegadores viejos no toman en cuenta las etiquetas desconocidas y muestran su contenido como elementos inline (inline elements).
Cerrar Etiquetas (tags)
Con html5 no hace falta cerrar las etiquetas. Si el documento debe cumplir estándar XML deben ser cerradas las etiquetas, por ejemplo <br> debe ser <br />.
